ALEJANDRO SABUGAL.
MÉXICO 1989Through an intuitive exploration of water, texture, color, and light, his paintings transform these natural elements and their behaviors in water and light into shifting perceptual fields.
His work is deeply rooted in the colors of the Caribbean Sea, particularly its distinctive range of blues. As he travels and creates in different parts of the world, these oceanic tones become a visual thread that merges with the changing colors, light, and character of other seas—from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Each new territory becomes an opportunity to reinterpret this palette through a different landscape and atmosphere.
Currently a new collection “ENTRE MAR Y TIERRA” is being created among Cancún - Sardegna where Sabugal explores the space between the earthly and the spiritual working with water . The sea, sky, light, and matter become a visual language through which he reflects on abundance, contemplation, and transcendence—where a sense of place transcends geography into an emotional, universal landscape.
